John Oropesa
President / Managing Member
John Oropesa founded Orocon Construction in 2006 with a vision of delivering quality projects with honesty and integrity, surpassing our customer’s expectations every step of the way. While consulting for major hotel and condominium developers on their upcoming construction projects, John started building the foundation for his vision. It was 2007 before Orocon broke ground on its first project – reconstruction of a small church in Biloxi that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Orocon accepted no fee on this project, feeling that giving back to the community was reward enough. That project was the first of many successful projects that continue today.
John has over 17 years experience in the construction industry and is responsible for the company’s overall business management, focusing on business development, estimating and project management. John graduated from the University of Florida in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction. After earning his degree, John worked in his hometown of Miami for a Division 9 subcontractor as an estimator and project manager. In 1996, the gaming industry’s construction boom brought him to Mississippi where John worked for the two largest contractors in the state. He worked on numerous projects including the $450 million Beau Rivage Resort and Casino, Beach Club Condominiums, and the Lockheed Martin Space and Technology Center among others.
John’s experiences as a subcontractor, general contractor and developer provides a depth and perspective that is uncommon in the industry today. John has managed a variety of project types including commercial, industrial, parking garages, hospitality, gaming, and condominiums. His background provides Orocon’s customers the advantage of a large contractor’s expertise combined with the personal attention one would expect from a small business.
